Ausmed – Access to the Clinical Resources Library (CPD)

APA (VIC) has exciting news about Continuing Professional Development.

As Registered Paramedics approach the close of the second period of CPD reporting (01 Dec 2020), APA (VIC) is pleased to announce that all financial members will today gain access to the Ausmed Clinical Resources as a benefit of their membership (valued at $360 per annum for private subscribers).

This new member benefit makes available the Ausmed library of resources for CPD purposes, in addition to their (free) CPD documentation tool that many already use, and direct access to their support team.

The Ausmed website, and their App for both iOS and Android, provide access to both the library and documentation features (for a complete CPD Portfolio).

  • If you don’t already have an Ausmed account, you can easily create one in a minute or two.
  • If you do have an Ausmed account
    • the APA (VIC) provided access can simply be added to a member’s current Ausmed account, adding to its functionality without loosing any historical data; this is done when first accepting the offer via the emailed website link.
    • this may be especially beneficial if you have multiple AHPRA Registrations, and track multiple CPD requirements (such as Registered Paramedic & Registered Nurse).
    • Please do let us know if you are using this for multiple Registrations as we can help with potential need for different ‘streams’ of CPD
  • Members who do not wish to use this member benefit can either decline it from a current Ausmed account, or simply email APA (VIC) advising they do not wish to use this access. (It can be re-authorised at a later date as long as your membership is current.)

Continuing Professional Development webpage has been added on our website outlining the benefit to members – and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Members are reminded that the AHPRA Board of Paramedicine has Registration Standards for Continuing Professional Development and that members are required to assess the suitability of any study they undertake for inclusion on their annual portfolio.

Survey Request from AEA-V regarding AV’s Student Placement during COVID-19 restrictions

APA (VIC) and AEA-V (Ambulance Employees Australia – Victoria, United Workers Union) both have Employee Representatives at AV’s Student Placement during COVID Working Group, which is currently meeting weekly. AEA-V has asked our members to consider completing their survey about Student Observers returning to operational shifts with Ambulance Victoria during the current State of Disaster / Emergency, and Chief Health Officer’s restrictions.

Rather than duplicate a survey and potentially compromise useful data, AEA-V and APA (VIC) are working together to share this information and present a combined position on behalf of AV employees.

Members should access the survey here, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete:

EBA Update: FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Since the dissemination of the “Employee Ballot” version of the proposed Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2020 (“the EBA”), members have sought clarification on a number of issues.

This information is provided to APA (Vic) members for consideration; it must be noted that it is based on current information and may not be reflected in the final version of the Agreement (should it change) or changes to AV’s interpretation of the Agreement, or its Policies or Procedures.

Members should also refer to previous posts regarding the development of the negotiations as these provide significant background and explanation.
These pages are based on the 15 months of discussions and negotiations, and APA (Vic)’s understanding and interpretation of the proposal.

To limit ‘information overload’ we will not duplicate previous information or that provided by AV, but endeavour to provide references and links where possible.

Please continue to provide your feedback to APA (Vic) so that we can respond and help you make an informed decision regarding the Pay and Conditions for our members and all applicable AV employees. Email us, or even just comment below!

EBA Update: Voting emails gone missing!

There have been reports of affected AV employees not receiving the AEC email that provides the access and passcode allowing them to vote on the proposed Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2020 (AEAV 2020).

This email should have gone to both work and/or personal email addresses on 16-17 Aug 2020.

Each affected employee should also refer to the internal email from the COO, Mark Rogers, of 17 Aug 2020 titled, “Communique: EBA Update – 17 August 2020 – Voting on the AVEA 2020 is now open“. This email has contact details if there are any concerns, for both Ambulance Victoria and the Australian Electoral Commission who are conducting the vote.

The email from the AEC should have been sent to both AV and personal email addresses, and is titled, “PASSWORD & VOTING INSTRUCTIONS – Proposed AMBULANCE VICTORIA ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT”. This email contains individualised login details for each employee.

If you do not have these emails in your Inbox, check your SPAM  / JUNK folders, and also check to see if they have been filed under categories such as ‘Promotions’ ‘Updates’ or ‘Social’, or for Outlook, incl AV email, ‘Other’ (as compared to ‘Focused’ in the Inbox).

Any member who is still unable to find information on whom to contact, please feel free to contact the Association and we will assist yout.

Take care and stay safe.
