Paramedicine Board Of Australia – Applications Close 29/5/2017

As Paramedic registration becomes a reality, and positions on the inaugural Paramedicine Board of Australia, created to oversee and set standards for Paramedics is now open for application, the committee of APA Victoria would like to encourage all members to consider nominating for a position on the Board.

Also, with the formation well underway for APA’s national body becoming a uniting front for all states, it is important for all Paramedics that we have a voice on a professional level.

Details of the position and application forms can be found on the AHPRA website link at Applications close Monday 29 May 2017, 5 pm AEST.

With regards and best wishes,
APA Victoria Committee

APA National Conference 27-March-2017

All day Monday, 27th March and in the evening, the APA Victoria executive committee was proud to host the first APA National Conference in Melbourne.

We met with fellow committee members and delegates from Queensland, New South Wales, and Tasmania where a number of topics were discussed and the goals we desire as One Organisation.

As National Paramedic Registration is in the foreseeable future, we are becoming prepared to have a voice in a National capacity. Having this in mind, we are committed to creating an “APA National Charter” that will unite us and strengthen each state branch by pooling resources and expertise of paramedics Australia-wide.

Since the birth of EMSPA in Queensland in 2010, we have seen massive changes in pay, conditions, clinical advances and operational changes, while providing legal and other support, and representation to members. This is Paramedics working for Paramedics, and as we go into a new era of National unity we will continue to look after our wellbeing.

Great News For APA Victoria

We are pleased to advise that since the last bulletin, members have come forward and offered to serve on the APA Victoria executive committee. This is great news for APA Victoria!

The caretaker committee would like to thank all who have stepped forward including Leigh Nichols-Thompson, Sven Holzheimer, Brendan Holman (already been voted in as State Liaison Officer), and Alexis Michael (our current Assistant Secretary). More details will be announced soon.

This should now allow APA Vic to continue the core mission, being the support of paramedics using informed legal advice and expertise. This has been extremely useful to many paramedics in the past, with a number of wonderful successes.

We would like to stress that the above-mentioned members will form the bare minimum of executive members required in order to allow APA Victoria to function.

Our focus forward must now be to expand the number of committee members along with our membership. We respectfully request that other members consider committee roles. These need not be time-consuming, can be in areas that you are comfortable with, and can take up as little as 2 hours a week. Training can be provided if need be.

Should you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us via phone on 1300 000 APA, via the website at or via email at

We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
